The F-1 Visa Interview

If you qualify, New York Language Center will provide you with the completed I-20 Form along with a cover letter addressed to the U.S. consul. (Please allow at least 5 working days to process the application and send the I-20 Form). After you receive the I-20 Form from NYLC, you must contact the American consulate or embassy in your home country to schedule a visa interview. When scheduling the interview, be sure to ask what fees and documents the embassy requires for the student visa application. Currently, the fees you must pay to the U.S. government are the $200 SEVIS I-901 fee, payable at www.fmjfee.com after you get your I-20, and an approximate $140 visa application fee payable to the U.S. Consulate.
